Kurt Daell has died after shorter illness
Kurt Daell was born as Kurt Hauptmann and arrived in Denmark as a only seven -year -old from Austria.
Originally, he came as part of a care course when he was among a group of poor children who stayed with Danish families after the war.
This is how it writes Extra Bladet.
Although Kurt had a tough start in life, he turned the curve and he ended up his days as one of Denmark’s most significant businessmen.
Daell’s Department Store was known for many years for its catalogs and the business in Nørregade in Copenhagen. But internally there was a divide in the family, and in 1987 Kurt Daell chose to buy the family’s shares out and take over the control alone.
Almost four years earlier, in 1983 he had invested in the Harald Nyborg chain, which at that time consisted of three stores. Today, the chain counts 66 stores across the country and is a central player in Danish retail.
Later he expanded the business with Jem & Fix and Daells Bolighus, and the group gained a foothold throughout Scandinavia.
Kurt Daell resigned from the post of Chairman of the Board in 2021, when his son Erling Daell took over the management. Both Erling and his brother Njal Daell are active co -owners in the group.
He leaves behind his wife Kirsten and his two sons – as well as a company that largely carries his life philosophy and power.
