Kurdo Baksi: The Turks have had enough of Erdogan

Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a unique dumbfighter on the political and domestic world scene. For a quarter of a century, he has indoctrinated Turks with Islamist, Neo-Otkan and West hostile rhetoric.

« It’s about the security of the country, » he said every time the opinion figures dropped.

For years he has talked about fictitious enemies who, according to him, help the Kurds destroy the Turkish state. He even managed to turn a natural disaster into a political success. Despite the non-presence and revelation that his party granted building permits to the cheat construction that collapsed in one of the worst earthquakes of our time, which demanded at least 55,000 death victims, he won the presidential election in 2023.

When he deposed elected Kurdish mayor and imprisoned opposition parliament members, even more Turks voted on him.

When he called Different thinking for terrorists was no one who questioned the claim. And when he blamed the empty Treasury, the high unemployment rate and the widespread poverty in the Western world, the average turkey bought the explanation.

People voted for Erdogan again and again and again. But that time can be over.

Millions of people defy since its ban on meeting and demonstrate without caring about the consequences, about how many police officers and how much tear gas is sent out

That in three dozen TV channels and about ten newspapers daily brainwashing their citizens no longer seems to work.

Since March 19, millions of people are protesting in all Turkish counties against Erdogan’s dictatorship. The majority of citizens have realized that the president really wants Turkey to become a central Asian republic without a trace of freedom of expression and speech or real elections.

Erdogan’s decision to Have its main rival oak strap Imamoglu, the popular mayor of Istanbul, was the igniting spark who caused the citizens of Turkey to break away from the Stockholm Syndrome.

But non-logic, as you know, is one of Erdogan’s strongest branches. At the same time as he started negotiations with the Kurdish PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, he has thus made sure that a court in Istanbul arrested Imamoglu for, among other things, contact with the same PKK who recently dissolved himself and closed his weapons. The arrest and arrest reveal Erdogan’s hypocrisy. Millions of people since its ban on meeting and demonstrate without caring about the consequences, about how many police officers and how much tear gas is sent out. They have had enough of Erdogan.

It was to report on these strong winds that Joakim Medin traveled to Turkey. He is now at home in Sweden but, like thousands of other journalists and oppositionists, is accused of « membership in an armed terrorist organization ». Medin was locked up in the same department in the Marmara prison as the main rival Imamoglu.

But the question is of course Why Erdogan imprisoned Imamoglu in the first place. Well, because he is terrified. All opinion polls show that Imamoglu would win a presidential election. Now Erdogan is fighting for his life because he has violated many laws in Turkey’s constitution. If he loses he will change places with Imamoglu.

You don’t have to be a Turkey expert to realize that it looks bad for Erdogan. The dream of choosing their rivals has been struck in pieces. Erdogan is no longer considered a serious leader. And he cannot copy his friend Vladimir Putin’s ruthless exercise of power because Turkey lacks oil and natural gas that can finance a dictatorship.

Now the question of the next leader in Turkey will be able to unite the country by recognizing the Kurds’ existence in the constitution, apologizing for the genocide of Christians in 1915 and introducing a true democracy.
