Krum Zarkov: some kind of assault on the euro is being prepared, organizations and tension are being created
« President Rumen Radev will bear his responsibilities for his actions for a referendum for the euro. What I can say is that some kind of assault against the euro is actually being prepared, organizations and tensions are being created. There is a public and political tension and there are already in Bulgaria. I hope the protests will be within the law and without excesses. » Former President Rumen Radev secretary Krum Zarkov told you today.
He added that with this move, the head of state has secured the ruling majority because he gave him a legitimate political purpose – the introduction of the euro. « The fact that he did not listen to me does not mean that he listened to Putin, my god, these are frivolous things. There is no Russian intervention, I was in the presidency and I have not felt anything about the request of the Head of State to hold a referendum on entering the euro area, » Zarkov stressed. He once again stated that such a referendum contradicts the Constitution and therefore left his post in the presidency.
Krum Zarkov: Radev’s request for the referendum will only remain political consequences
« President Rumen Radev is still a politician with the highest rating. In this sense, he has a terrain of action, but with his course of the euro referendum, he enters a niche that is more narrow by the potential he had, and this niche will lead him as a chute on this axis, » Zarkov said in response to a question.
He pointed out that the concerns of people about the introduction of the euro, which some politicians are trying to use, are not because of their Euroscepticism. « They are because of the distrust of the institutions and that people in power want and can protect their interests, and Putin is not to blame, » Zarkov explained.
Radev suggested a referendum about the euro to protect the poor from a price increase
According to him, the contract with Botash may have been a mistake given the change in the conjuncture, but at the time of its conclusion it seemed necessary. Zarkov stressed that there is nothing unlawful in it, and now it is used for political games.
Asked about the future Attorney General, he said that a procedure for selecting a new Supreme Judicial Council should emergency. Krum Zarkov also said that Borislav Sarafov should not be the next Attorney General.
