Kreis at the World Athletics Championships in Distributed Eighth Placing / Day
The bar of five and a half meters in height was overcome by Kreis in the first attempt, but 5.70 meters in three attempts remained unexpected.
This allowed Kreis in a 12 -athlete competition with German athlete Bo bars and Chinese Li Chenyan take a shared eighth place.
The winner for the third time in a row was Armands Duplantis, the main favorite of the race, who overcame 5.70, 5.90, 6.00 and 6.05 meters, with a bar of 6.10 meters in height and 6.15 meters with the second leap.
The second with a new Greek record of 6.05 meters was Emmanuel King, while the third place with 5.90 meters was American Sam Kendrix.
Kreis reached a record in February, overcoming the bar of 5.82 meters high and correcting the Latvian adult and the Latvian U-23 record.
Among the 12 participants, Kreiss was 11th this season. Duplantis, who was 6.27 meters in the world record this season.
On Friday, Uģis Jocis finished in the 20th place in the 1500 meters race, but Roberts Jānis Zālītis finished in the 37th place in the 60 meters.
All three Latvian athletes are debutants in this competition.
The premises of the World Championships are the origins in 1985, when the competition in Paris was called the World Games indoors. Officially, the first World Championships took place in 1987 in Indianapolis, USA. Since then, 19 World Championships have taken place in 36 years and are traditionally March.
Latvian athletes have participated in all 20 athletics forums in all 20 premises. In the first games and in the first three championships, Latvian athletes took part in the USSR national team. In the world games, Janis Bojārs won the bronze medal with a score of 19.94 meters, while Igor Kazanov won the bronze (7.65 seconds) in the 60 -meter hurdles in 1989 and two years later silver (7.56).
During the restored Latvia since 1993, Maris Bruziks won the silver medal in the triathlon (17.36 m) and Stanislav Olijar in Valencia in Valencia in 2008 in the 60 -meter hurdles in 2008.
