Košice. The Transport Company of Košice (DPMK) submitted a proposal to increase the fare in public transport on Wednesday.
Corzar was confirmed on Thursday by the CEO of the 100 % city joint stock company Roman Danko.
MEPs at the municipal council should decide on the increase of travel expenses on 26 June. If they approve it, passengers will pay extra from August 1.
Wages of employees have risen significantly
Danko, as one of the key reasons for this unpopular step, described an increase in value added tax from 20 to 23 percent, which, according to calculations, the company will prepare by EUR 350-400,000 at the unchanged fare price.
Transaction tax It will cause an increase in expenditure by another 100,000 euros, so the result of the government’s consolidation measures will only be around EUR 500,000 in these two items.
« We have also increased costs, especially to wages, but also to the repair and maintenance of vehicles and infrastructure, » continued the head of the city carrier.
He concretized that the average gross wage of drivers increased by 13 percent from 1,510 to EUR 1,724 compared to 2023. It was increased from the second half of 2024.
In the workers’ categories, an increase in 11.5 percent from 1,356 was at the current EUR 1,684.
« This represents an increase in the annual, about 30 million wage costs, by another 3.3 million euros. We do not have on this item as a to savebecause the vehicles must be driven by someone. We had to raise wages, because they do not want to do us slowly for this money, ”Danko stressed.
They will need additional money to co -finance the necessary investment projects from Eurofunds. This includes, among other things, the procurement of 30 new CNG buses with a roughly million participation in the company, where the bids have already been evaluated, but have not yet published the results of the competition.

« I believe that MEPs will approve the new DPMK Tariff’s proposal on the basis of our documents. If this is not the case, this financial problem will just move the city’s shoulders, which will have to find the money somewhere in the end.
