Knob turns back
The music and family festival Hnoðri takes place in Húsavík today, the second year in a row. A wide selection of musicians perform and promises Einar Óli Ólafsson, founder of the festival and musician, good entertainment.
In a conversation with Morgunblaðið, Einar says the idea has ignited when he was selected by the Northern Parliament artist in 2023 and wanted to create something durable for the community.
He seeks inspiration for the music festival I never went south in Ísafjörður, where he should be traced, and hopes to create a similar atmosphere in Húsavík.
He says access to knots is free and the festival is mostly financed with grants from companies, mainly in the town.
« The only thing we get out of this is to have something fun to do and do something for the community, » says Einar.
Einar says last year’s festival has far exceeded expectations. The weather gods have offered derivative weather and therefore he expected it to affect attendance. However, he expects about 600 people to show up.
He says the idea this year has been to build on the good of last year and mentions that although exceptionally successful has been more ambition, this year’s ambition and more people are ready to help with the installation. It also helps the weather forecast look better this year than last year.
Young and aspiring artists get a chance
In addition, companies from the town will participate with sales booths and refreshments.
« This year we will have the golf club, which is a new restaurant in town and they are going to have chicken soup and vegetable soup.
The program starts at 18 and runs until 23 in the premises of Ísfell and says Einar himself will appear with musician Axel Flóvent, who is raised in Húsavík and enjoys great acclaim. However, he says organizers also focus on giving young and aspiring artists to the north opportunities.
Among the items are the Indian Rock band Ghosts, which consists mostly of Húsviks living south of the heath and is led by the aforementioned Axel Flóvent.
In addition, musician Diana Sus from Akureyri, visual art and musician Guðný Margrét, Metal head Davíð Már from Akureyri and musician Atli from Sauðárkrókur, who has earned a good reputation in the Icelandic music scene.
