KNAB On Election Day, most often received information about the candidates of deputies on social networks / day
The KNAB, one of the pre -election campaigning supervisors, is judged by the municipal elections as peaceful. Compared to the previous municipal elections, the reporting activity of the population has increased, drawing the authority’s attention to possible pre -election campaign violations, says Amilija Raituma, Head of the Investigation Unit of the KNAB’s political organizations.
On the day of the municipal election, the KNAB received a total of 60 possible violations of the ban on campaigning, and most often residents reported on the free communication of political organizations, deputy candidates and other persons on social networks, as well as calls for a specific list or deputy candidate in SMS format.
The KNAB drew attention to the fact that the pre -election campaign law on election day prohibits the distribution of campaigning materials and promoting records on the Internet, but does not limit opportunities for parties, deputy candidates and non -parties to publish free content on social networks and other places on the Internet.
Following the initial acquaintance with the information received today in the reports addressed to the authority, the KNAB first saw signs of administrative violation and decided to initiate administrative violation processes.
Both potential violations are related to a paid political content on the Internet. In other cases, which indicates a possible violation, the KNAB will conduct an in -depth clarification.
It has already been reported that local elections in the State Security Service (VDD) have been quietly conducted peacefully and that Russia’s attempts to influence results have not been identified.
During the pre -election period and until the conclusion of the municipal elections, the SFS has identified a total of 88 so -called signals of possible unlawful activities that could affect the election results. Most of the service obtained is about buying votes as well as the influence of voters in another way.
Most signals have already been checked by the service without confirming the unlawful actions. At the same time, some of the inspections of the VDD are still ongoing, including in the assessment of several cases, in closely cooperation with the State Police. There is also a high probability that information on possible violations, as in other years, will continue to receive after the elections.
In addition, the service has received 24 reports of alleged violations, which are reviewed by other authorities. The information obtained by the VDD has forwarded to the partner authorities to the State Police and for further evaluation of the KNAB.
Also, the election day of the State Police (VP) was held without significant incidents, but in one case, when investigating criminal proceedings, a detained person was deliberately delayed to implement the election rights, LETA informed the police.
A total of 43 different signals of possible violations have responded to the VP on Election Day, of which 20 of which have been initiated by administrative violation processes, as well as one criminal proceedings and two persons have been detained in total.
In these municipal elections, taking into account those citizens who voted in the previous voting, voter turnout has reached 46.77% of the voters with the right to vote, according to the latest data compiled by the Central Election Commission (CEC), which is not yet for all districts.
