Kleinberg hopes to agree on the creation of Riga City Council coalition / day
As the politician said today after meeting with the National Union (NA), the elected political forces must justify the confidence of the voters. The Rigans in these elections have enabled the national forces to form a coalition and told the « no » population and pro -Christian forces.
On Tuesday, « Progressive » has called for « New Unity » (JV), on Wednesday – « Joint List » (AS). If these conversations are successful, you could meet everyone together on Thursday.
Kleinberg welcomed the first conversation with the NA, in which « Progressive » presented his list of works and received praise from colleagues. He expects additions from NA.
Kleinberg emphasized that there was no forceful disagreement in the negotiations, which would prevent the parties from working together. Priorities have been discussed – investment, infrastructure improvement, educational issues, youth policy, situation with streets and bridges. The position, the number of vice mayors and the division of responsibilities between parties has not been discussed today.
He stated that he was a team player and he appreciated the needs of all players in the team. Today, it has been agreed that issues that are very important to Rigans are on the table, so that people do not leave Riga, so the ideological differences between the parties will be set aside and respected.
According to Kleinberg in a « progressive » statement, the Rigans are expecting responsible action and common productive work, not political confusion.
Coalition talks with NA « Progressive » have informed about work priorities aimed at sustainable development and security of Riga. These include strengthening civil protection capabilities, including the construction of shelters and a clear action plan at X per hour, as well as constant and clear support for Ukraine.
Important emphasis is on investment and business promotion by increasing support for start -ups, reducing bureaucracy and arranging municipal property.
In the field of culture, the design and construction of the Riga Acoustic Concert Hall in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture is a priority. In turn, education and youth policy, on the other hand, focuses on the availability of support staff, methodological support for educators, the transition to a unified school in Latvian and the development of modern infrastructure in schools and sports.
As reported, the first talks on the formation of the new coalition were held at the Riga Town Hall on Monday.
In the local elections in the Riga City Council, « Latvia in the first place » (LPV) has won the highest number of votes, but the Progressive and NA party has also achieved very close results, according to preliminary election results compiled by the Central Election Commission.
Summarizing data from all polling stations, the LPV gained 18.17% of the vote, which gives 13 of the 60 mandates in the City Council.
16.62% of voters voted for « progressive », giving them 11 Member’s mandates, NA – 14.2% of voters, who give it 10 mandates, but the current Mayor of Riga, Vilnius Cherry, gained 12.9% of voters. As a result, JV will receive nine posts.
The list of « sovereign power » and the « Jaunlatvian » union has won 12.13% of the vote and could be eight mandates. Two more political forces – the « stability » party, supported by 6.94% of voters, and AS, supported by 6.29% of voters, which allows five and four mandates respectively.
