Demand for musical performances, including the relatively serious musicals of John Lusens, is undeniable, but the state theater in recent years in this field, just like in the comedy segment, is not too diligent, and the directors who, as they say, know, do not have so much.

The reaction of the audience in writing and commenting on the National Theater show shows that it appreciates the entertaining, easy -to -perceive storyline and the ability to relax, as I heard, « after a difficult day ». In my opinion, the problem is that viewers in good faith about the clean property accept what the director is trying to ironic. Klav Melis’ approach to the show could be described as a puppet theater with live dolls – each image emphasizes only one character.

The novels of actor and writer Rutku’s father or Arved Michelson (1886-1961), where we can guess Alexander Dima’s father’s influence, have been re -released in the 1990s, but the author has gained the greatest recognition from Riga Film Studio films Vella’s servants and Vella servants in the Vella Mill, In which the source (Soviet publishing house did not print it), however, has undergone a change in the screenwriter Alexander Leiman and Jan Aneraud. Even though the storyline is not so cheerful – it is really closer to Dima, not the servants of Vella.

Oh, oh, raped virgin

The exit point of the radish -twisted storyline is the so -called calendar unrest (1584-1589), resisting Stephen Batori’s efforts to introduce the Gregor’s calendar. Against this background, a melodramatic line is addressed on Martins Gisz’s efforts to take revenge on Riga City Council Sindik Velling, who once raped Gisz’s beloved Mary. The image system « Calendar Riots » in the section marks the three scams who speak to each other in the nicknames, but are considered to be the main villains. Voldemar Shorin’s Ekem and Ivars Pugas Keyboard are not very much to do. Mārcis Manyakovs plays similar to a vurma of the shiller false and love with an experienced role -playing manipulator.

On the political line, members of the Riga Dome Boys’ Choir play the role of the people, creating the impression of calendar riots as a children’s rebellion. However, the choir also has a messenger’s function in marking the melodramatic line, as it is the teenage boys who sing the text written by Klav Melis about the rape of Mary, finishing with the sigh of « Ai, Ai ».

Madara Botmane Mary is an unfortunate sufferer whose singing words seem to be a collection of Mara Zalite in terms of poeticness, and as the mother of adult sons, this Mary is still, albeit demented (the formulation of the show), Raimonds Celma Giza, returning to Riga, wants to take revenge on Velling, but is caught in unrest, which does not seem too important to him. The problem of Raimonds Celma is that his hero is functional and has the opportunity to get caught behind any character. There are two distinctly cartoon -based images around the unfortunate love line – Egils Melbourne’s father Eniņš and Ainars Ančevskis Spuk, as well as relatively interesting, livelier, women’s roles – Liga Zeļģe’s nun Gertrude and Elizabeth Lielmane or Elza Ruth Jordane Chappa. Edgar and Emil Kauperi are stage -friendly, not only singing, but also organically acting, albeit on the background of hyperactive stage partners. Undoubtedly, this choice of role -players is a wise march from a marketing point of view and also justifies, and the twins are at the same time and are not similar, they can only be confused within the storyline, and the character differences between the images, no matter how minimal sketched. It can be felt that young artists are, at least for now, an exciting adventure that they enjoy.

Vital and quite important, even small, role – Laura – play Daiga Gaismina, while Karl Reyer as Stefan Bathy speaks in exaggerated bass and will not hide his own Deus Ex Machina role.

Is the story about Riga?

The ideological emphasis on the libretto – at least formally – is the chanting of Riga, which is highlighted by the selection of designer Austra Sniķere to use the letters of Riga as the elements of the decoration. However, Klāvs Mellis, who has also studied melodrama at the level of the master’s thesis, is not at the forefront of the melodramatic storyline. Not long ago Klava Melly’s like -minded, music theater specialist and troupes Quadrifron Co -founder Evarts Melnalksnis, criticized the Latvian National Opera and Ballet that by staging Gaetano Doniceti A love drinkthere is a long -term interpretation of it, but we can make a similar accusation for Klav Mellim. Prior to the municipal elections, the show about Riga and the open -air industry to show the rebels only as a fun time means not to deliberately not use the possibility of contextualization of this storyline with the present day, although both the Barricades’ time and the umbrella revolution have been called in the program program.

At the end of the show, NIMBS lands from the scenes of a killed hero (not to discover – which), indicating a sense of humor of Klav Melis. However, to watch the show as a whole is not too exciting. Perhaps a greater alienation would help, which would make the goals of the production makers more clearer. Currently, every actor has passed through this tribal as much as they can.
