Klaipeda Festival 2025: Art discovers new spaces
This year, the Klaipėda Festival program, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, proposes to dive into multifaceted artistic experiences-from the open-air dance environment of the romantic opera classics.
August 8 9:30 p.m. Fragments from Richard Wagner’s early romantic opera Lohengrin will sound in the territory of Klaipėdos Energija. They will be performed by the Klaipėda State Musical Theater Symphony Orchestra and mixed choir conducted by invited maestro Gintaras Rinkevičius. The most prominent soloists of Lithuanian and foreign opera will be performed on the stage: Edgar Montvid (Lohengrin), Lauren Fagan (Elza, Australia / Great Britain), Tadas Girininkas (King Heinrich), Wikoria Wizner (Ortrūda / Poland) and Evert Sooster (King Herald / Austria). The performance will be accompanied by a light design created specifically for this evening.
August 9 8 p.m. The guest of the Operomanija Festival – « Opermanija » – will present a very much interest in the opera « Good Day! », Created by Vaiva Grainytė, Lina Lapelytė and Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė. This unique opera, dedicated to ten cashiers, the sounds of the mall and the piano, has recently been shown with great success at the International Festival « International Maiifstspiele Wiesbaden 2025 » in Germany, and last year the audience of the Lithuanian cultural season in France.

August 14 8 p.m. The Symphony Music Concert « Code MKC » will be held in the hall to Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. KVMT Symphony Orchestra led by chief Conductor Tomas Ambrozaitis, together with the theater mixed choir and Klaipeda Concert Hall Choir « Aukuras », will perform MK Čiurlionis’ symphonic poem « In the forest » and « Sea » and the monumental cantata « de profundis ».
August 16 9:30 p.m. The Sculpture Park presents a gift to the city and its guests – festival fans are invited to the free dance performance Rex, based on MK Čiurlionis’ work. Six KVMT ballet troupe dancers choreographic miniatures, inspired by Čiurlionis’ paintings, complemented with lights projections, will create an unexpected and modern atmosphere in a unique space.
Klaipeda Festival is more than music. It is an invitation to discover the city through art.
