Kikilias: « It is not a luxury for Greeks to travel to our islands » – what he said about the ferry
The 50% reduction in port fees from 1 May with an amendment tabled in Parliament and the four -year closed competition for the barren lines of the ferry was cited by Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, speaking to OT Delphi Economic.
Mr Kikilias spoke of a horizontal way of holding prices on ferry tickets as he explained from 1/5/2025 the EU changes the mixture of fuel making them more expensive. With the reduction of port fees in PPA, PTA and all other ports in the country, the amount will be deducted from the price of ferry tickets. « It is not a luxury for Greeks to travel to our islands, a family by car, » the minister said in response to a question, adding that the climate in the market is to bring together all the costumes to protect our fellow citizens.
Ship safety
Referring to the security issues of the ferry lines in our country, the Minister of Maritime noted that he had requested that horizontal checks are carried out on all ships, ferry and tourist, so that we know that the ships are safe. He called on similar efforts to the Port Authorities to order and carry out on -the -spot checks in the ports, however, noting that there will be rules for all shipping and that the safety of the citizens is priority. The Minister did not exclude the further tightening of the regulatory framework that already exists.
Port infrastructure
On the big issue of the country’s port infrastructure and the problems facing many areas and special islanders, Mr. Kikilias referred to the AEGIS program, the most ambitious and important program- 2.1 billion euros- for the country’s civil protection. As he typically said, competitions for digitization, ports, jetty and anchorages and marinas are proceeding.
Bunny lines
The Minister of Shipping has announced that a 4 -year closed competition will be launched for the barren lines with significant amounts, as he characteristically said, to have better protection of our islands. The aim is to achieve greater connectivity between the big ports but also between the islands and we expect much better results and better quality lines.
