« Keep the majority and please Peevski »: the ruling do not release the sword and « greatness » in the committees

Three sources of a diary from different groups attended both meetings say that the initial agreement on the distribution of commissions places failed after dissatisfaction with the MRF – New Beginning group, which will lose 9 places due to the entry of the sword and « greatness » in the commissions.

However, everything has changed with the entry into the Parliament of « greatness », as the 10 new deputies will violate the distribution already made, and the balance of forces in the commissions would change in favor of the opposition. This is also the reason why nor any of the MPs of « greatness » has been elected as a member of a committee, nor any of the MPs from the sword has been restored to his old position. What is happening with the two groups is contrary to the parliamentary rules of argument that it would violate the rules of the Parliament President Natalia Kiselova defended her decision to dissolve the group of Radostin Vasilev.

In order to meet this provision, MPs apply a complex formula to calculate exactly how many MPs will have the groups in each committee, in each of them the ratio corresponds to the size of the groups (thus ensuring that the formed majority also exists in the committees – BA))

It is mandatory to observe that each MP may be a member of only two committees.

These calculations were made even before the MPs of the « greatness » were sworn in, knowing which committees who and how many MPs would lose. According to the accounts told on Dnevnik by MPs who wished not to be named, all groups lose members in some of the committees, such as:

There is currently no consensus for new solutions to increase the number of commissions, but « Kiselova has several times tried to go in this direction on its own, » says a MP. This was confirmed by the sword leader Radostin Vasilev to Dnevnik.

Radostin Vasilev said he would not allow an increase in the number of commissions, as it contradicts the Parliament’s rules and would violate proportionality.

According to Dnevnik, representatives of GERB have also opposed this idea with the argument that even now the National Assembly cannot fill in all places in the committees, as only 480 can be occupied out of a total of 488 positions.

Comfortable majority against Committee Blockage

Before Dnevnik, the sword leader Radostin Vasilev announced that he would not allow the postponement of the Committee and as early as Thursday (April 10) would ask for members of them to be elected MPs from his group and from « greatness ».
