KD fails – will not be a nationalization of health care
The fact that nationality healthcare has long been one of the most important objectives of the Christian Democrats. As part of the Tidö agreement therefore added a parliamentary investigation. After two years of investigation, it is clear that there is no support in the Riksdag to nationalize care in whole or in part.
« Six out of eight parties do not see the benefits of such a big change, and they believe that it is associated with major risks and even great costs, » said the investigation committee chairman Jean-Luc Geijerstam, at a press conference on Monday when the report’s report was handed over to Minister of Health Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD).
One finding is that Swedish healthcare, after all, maintains a high medical standard.
A partial state headmanship would make it difficult to draw boundaries if the responsibility for the care between the state, regions and municipalities is a conclusion.
On the other hand, the Committee agrees that the state’s responsibility should increase for certain parts of the care, such as vaccinations, skills supply, forensic psychiatric care, screening and airborne ambulance transport.
The Christian Democrats have called the The care reform of the centuryand pointed to the healthcare organization has not changed since 1862 when the county council was formed. According to the SOM Institute, as many as 70 percent of Swedes want the state to take over the principal for health care, which has pointed out a popular support.
But as at the beginning of the investigation work, it is clear that KD has a majority against it. In the parliamentary committee that has worked on the issue, only SD supports KD’s line. In their special opinion, the Moderates write that the party is « convinced that Swedish health – and health care should not be nationalized ».
According to KD, national care would come to terms with inequality and inefficiency in healthcare. According to the Committee’s analyzes, it is not possible to establish.
Minister of Health Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD) still believes that it is the way forward.
– I really think that a state responsibility is required for the care to be equal as we want it. It is still our position. I think six parties have moved in the right direction, because it is seen that the state should take responsibility in certain areas, says Acko Ankarberg Johansson.
What is it that KD thinks that a nationalization would make care more equal?
– I think it goes without saying. 21 regions that are only responsible for their own, but not for others. It gets very divided. We are a country, and will have a coherent healthcare system, says Acko Ankarberg Johansson.
At the same time, all parties are behind the fact that health care will be more equal, which is also in line with the Health Care Act.
Aida Hadzialic (S) Finance Region Council In Stockholm, the investigation considers a failure that has taken focus from the real problems of the care.
« The government does not even agree internally, » says Aida Hadzialic, pointing out that the goal was just to make care more equal.
An infected political debate has been the case that the regions have been so pressured financially that, despite staff shortages in recent years, they have been forced to notify thousands of employees.
– In order to achieve equal care, more healthcare personnel and shorter waiting times are required and then you have to postpone more resources – instead the government has triggered a care crisis with one hand, and appointed this investigation with the other. It’s not serious, says Aida Hadzialic.
