Kaunas Writers’ One Litas Literary Prize – Writers Lina Navickaite
Members of the Lithuanian Writers’ Union (LRS) Kaunas Branch Council are selected as the best authors of the book last year, so the writers themselves are colleagues who are also the most demanding readers and evaluators – Gediminas Jankus (chairman), Aldona Ruseckaitė, Erika Drungytė, Dovilė Zelčiūtė, Gvidas Latakas, Tomas Vyšniauskas. The award of the prize is determined by the artistic level, originality and significance of the work.
According to Gediminas Jankus, Chairman of the Kaunas Branch of the LRS, this is a rare and surprising case in our today’s literature. These include fantasy ries, unrealistic, dream styling lines of complex storylines, inventive, carefully selected names, mystical atmosphere, caught, breathtaking adventures, defeating evil forces.
The novel is dedicated to teens and the whole family, so unrealistic, fantastic adventure and travel through fabulous islands, memorable characters, and delicate narrative style will also interest older readers.
The scenes of the rampage of evil and violence, the brutal persecution of others, torture and the massacre are particularly memorable.
“We know L. Navickaitė more than a poet who has published several collections of poems, but the previous prose books and essays, I think, was already a kind of artistic application for more important works. That maturity and depth, a flash of prose prose writer talent, unexpectedly opened deep, subconscious creative streams. »
« Four with Bird » is the story of the epic ambition about the mysteries of the human soul, the worlds of dreams, the mysticism, the deadly struggle of good and anger, the choice. The novel, of course, belongs to the magic fiction genre, in Lithuania not only poorly known, but also in very poorly represented fiction. Among the few small works published almost twenty years ago, the books of Romualdas Drakšas and Gintautas K. Ivanickas should be mentioned. However, no greater attention and breakthrough did not receive this topic. And weird. After all, magic fiction. Fantasy) – one of the varieties of fiction (ie literature, cinema, games, music, art, etc.), very popular in the West. A characteristic feature of the genre is the portrayal of magic and supernatural phenomena, unlike scientific fantasy – the absence of modern technology. Magic fiction is like fairy tales these days, only in most cases not only for children.
The novel « Four with a Bird » is, of course, a unique work of this genre in our literature, and can be compared to the famous John. RR Tolkien, UK Rowling novels. L. Navickaite’s book, the original conveying and the fantasy of his idea, can compete with the most famous works of the foreigners of this genre.

First of all, the novel is very vivid and developed by the parallel world, the obvious epic ambitions, the constant talk of the fight against the supernatural forces of evil, and not only talked about, but also directly fought. The novel has fantastic creatures of various types, especially the inventive author, creating the forces of evil. In addition, L. Navickaite was able to portray alternative worlds, associate action with magic, spells, past, folklore, mythology.
When reading a book, there is no interest in interest, the abundance of adventure and incredible characters in the characters, there is no room for boredom and feeling that it has been heard, read or seen somewhere. New, fresh, original. Four children (with a smart parrot) hikes, rescuing a sick girl, their sacrifice, courage and determination in marginal situations cannot be fascinated.
The scenes of the rampage of evil and violence, the brutal persecution of others, torture and the massacre are particularly memorable. As relevant to the contemporary background of the war in Ukraine, it is reminiscent of the rampage of the Russian occupiers, the dictatorship regime implemented by the blind obedience and fear system.
