The Kaunas Heritage Management Program, which has been operating for eleven years, is the main tool of the city for the restoration of historic buildings. Since 2015, more than two hundred buildings have been used to renovate their buildings on the initiative of Kaunas Municipality.

According to the municipality, the high results are also determined by the fact that Kaunas is one of the eight municipalities in the country, where the Real Estate Heritage Assessment Council is constantly employed. The data collected for a long time were only evaluated through funding, and later quantitative and qualitative indicators were introduced: allocating and attracting municipal funds for cultural heritage protection, heritage protection issues.
