Kaunas Medical Team returned from an internship in Ukraine


The Kaunas Medical Team had the opportunity to monitor and participate in various stages of evacuation, treatment and nursing in various patients in the two -week training training. During the internship, they spent most of their time at Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipre.

According to the Advisor to the Minister of Health Skirmantas Kruunkaitis, this medical internship is part of the preparation process, the third team that has returned this year. According to him, strengthening the resistance of the health system will continue until the medics of all regions of Lithuania gain the necessary knowledge and understanding of how to act in war conditions.

« We have a specific action plan on how the lessons learned in Ukraine will be applied in the Lithuanian health system. All of this is implemented in cooperation between state institutions, non -governmental organizations and medical institutions, which shows our maturity and ability to achieve results, to be flexible and all the necessary public resources, » said S. Krungaitis.

ELTA recalls that in early February, Minister of Health M. Jakubauskienė said the country’s system is not ready for military, hybrid and civilian threats.

« The situation, to put it mildly, is not good. Preparation is not the right level. As a result, the health system preparation for civilian, hybrid and military threats is one of our priorities, » said the Minister of Health in an interview with ELTA Kampas.
