Kaunas educators – about an internship in Greece


Irma Žilinskienė, Director of Kaunas Kindergarten « Hedgehog », Rima Kalinauskienė, Director of Kaunas Kindergarten « Liepaitė », Jolanta Bitvinskienė, Director of Kaunas Klumpėlė Klumpėlė and Renata Rudžionienė. The heads of the aforementioned institutions stated that the internships were examined on team formation, the application of various differentiation opportunities, identification strategies, and the implementation of effective teaching and learning methods.

The knowledge and skills gained during the training helped to go deeper into the management of children’s diversity, the development of appropriate training programs, the creation of individual curricula, the monitoring and assessment of pupils’ learning and evaluation as a means of improving learning. Special attention is also paid to cooperation with families and the educational community in order to notice the needs of each child in time.

« It was not only a valuable opportunity to expand their professional knowledge, but also an inspirational international experience. We discussed with colleagues from other countries, how to create an educational environment where each child feels visible, audible and supported, » I. Žilinskienė shares her impressions.

According to the director, engagement is not only a help for children with special educational needs, but the change of culture of education: « This is an attitude that helps to grow an open, responsible and caring society from an early age. »

R. Kalinauskienė, the director of Kaunas Kindergarten « Liepaitė », said, according to which it is a great field of qualification improvement, which includes the application of modern educational methods to improve inclusive education, allowing for more efficient work with children of various abilities and needs.

« It is important to convey the acquired knowledge to the communities of the institutions, to implement an equivalent partnership, to develop interrelationships based on international experience, » said the educator.

It is an attitude that helps to grow an open, responsible and caring society from an early age.

I. Žilinskienė plans to apply the acquired knowledge to strengthening educational practice in Kaunas Kindergarten « Hedgehog », which focuses on individual children’s needs, cooperation with parents and specialists and quality of education.

These preschool institutions in Kaunas are successfully implementing international projects and developing the contexts of education. Such initiatives show that Lithuanian educators are ready to learn, change and create an education system where each child has a place to grow and improve.
