kata – the freedom of body and soul is called technique

The mind, feelings and movements

Diana Mačiūtė, President of the Okinava Sports Club Okinava, who presented the match, Diana Mačiūtė, a reusable Lithuanian, European and World Champion, and is a recognized karate technical demonstrator.

« Kata is the freedom of the body and soul, where the mind, feelings and movements blend in harmoniously. It is a fight against the imaginary opponent, her fears, the fight against the shadow, » explained Mačiūtė.

In other words, athletes perform predefined motion sequences that mimic the fight against the invisible opponent.

However, it is noted that the technical demonstration competition requires huge perfectionism and expression.

« Much mechanically perform kata’s actions that can resemble robots – without emotion, without a run, » Diana admitted.

Boldly stormed a new match

Today, Kata has two competitions: individual and team. The last European karate Kiokushin organization for the first time included in 2018, and in the same year, the pupils of the Okinava cube not only participated in the European Adult Championship team in the Kata Match, but also won 3rd place.

It was at the initiative of D. Mačiūtė who was given exceptional attention in preparation for the new match in all ages.

In recent years, both Okinava and Shodan athletes are constantly on the European Championships on the podium of the team winners.

« Self -expression, technique and concentration are very important in the individual match. Team kata emphasizes first and foremost synchronicity, uniformity of technology and, of course, inner force. The athletes must feel very good and know each other to become alone at any moment, » said Mačiūtė.
