Kapote, the new disco life – Liberation
Punk-Funk leads to everything, provided you get out. Co-founder of the Label Gomm, which led from 1999 the sling against the closet dancefloors with bass wave, beats dark disco, bizarre pop and non-conformist house influences, Italo-German Mathias Modica has had a good career under the name of Mongk. Four impeccable albums dotted with mini-tubes (Mein Schatzi With Princess Superstar, This kul with Chloé or Kick Out the Shays! With James Murphy and Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem), before scuttling his label and his solo project in the same momentum after almost eighteen years of good and loyal service to attack new territories. By giving body in 2012 and 2018 to his unbridled House Epiphany (with the Toy Tonics label, a refuge of enlightened amateurs of Deep House, Italo and other 4/4 Solar Rhythms) and Nu-Jazz (the Kryptox label, devolved to the young German scene), Mathias Modica did the prey for the shadow?
Judging by the frantic outings of Toy Tonics, the multiple evenings of the Berlin label which offer a new nightlife to the German capital that we imagined succumbing Ad Libitum to the blows of an ever faster techno and especially to its productions under the name of Kapote, succumbing to the most all-all that is the best idea of his career.
Second album by Mathias Modica since he metamorphosed into Kapote, Para mytho disco is a vagabond disc, faithful to the artistic line of Toy Tonics: sweat, musicality and also a little stupor. Recorded in various European studios according to its DJ commitments, these twelve titles are stirring Gaillardement Jazz-Funk, Boogie, House, Japanese electronic music from the 1980s and Italian disco, without ever pouring a second in ease. Result of the races, an irresistible block which lends itself to both domestic listening and abandonment on dancefloor. And all that with a blissful smile.
With the same desire to break the barriers, the stallion meter of the meeting between house and instrumental hip-hop. An obvious influence.
The supported house version of Kapote productions by an Amstellodam Duo Fondu de Disco and Salsoul Records.
Between disco Funky and Costaude House, the French and Italian disco masters make the big gap between the sound of New York and Italo.
