Kambovski for the new Law on Judicial Council: With some of the decisions we agreed, with no part, we will see what the proposal will be
Members of the Judicial Council participated as part of the working group on the new Draft Law on Judicial Council. Normally, with some of those solutions we agreed, we disagreed with some. We have made proposals ours, the proposal to the law that will be seen, said today the President of the Judicial Council, Aleksandar Kambovski.
As part of the things that are moving, Kambovski pointed to the public of the procedure for dismissing the President of the Judicial Council to be public and defining the term « prominent lawyer ».
-I think an attempt was made to define what is constantly in public, which is a prominent lawyer. I think now with this law to some extent how much it is possible to say what a prominent lawyer is, that is, to give some criteria, Kambovski said.
Regarding the term « prominent lawyer », Kambovski said he thinks there will be some clearer criteria that the person who tends to have that status should possess.
« It is versatile with the years of service he has, the reputation he has in his area where he works, the recommendations he will receive from his colleagues and the like …, » Kambovski said.
Asked where the Supreme Court president’s election procedure is, Kambovski said that the election of the Supreme President will be at the next next session we will have, and that should be a week.
The Ministry of Justice, earlier today, informed that the Draft Law on the Judicial Council incorporating the recommendations of the EC’s assessment mission has been completed and published on the Single National Electronic Registry of Regulations (ENER), the Ministry of Justice informs.
According to the reform agenda that was officially approved by the European Commission, the country should have a new Law on Judicial Council by June 2025.
