Jurists, actors and journalists sign against the imputation of the State Attorney General | Spain
The association defends in Law on February 20, a collection of signatures in solidarity with Álvaro García Ortiz, the first state attorney general of the State to whom A case has been opened in the Supreme Court In democracy. The manifesto, who already support more than 9,000 people, says that it is not understood « how a secret revealed in the first place by a taxpayer can lead to the investigation of an alleged filtration of something that, after that revelation of the interested party, had ceased to be secret » when the taxpayer, Alberto González Amador, It is the one who first communicates an alleged negotiation with the Prosecutor's Office before the potential imputation of a crime that recognizes having committed. « It is difficult to understand that all this can be transformed into an imputation to the maximum representative of the State Attorney General's Office for having denied certain false information about the secret revealed precisely by the taxpayer affected by that investigation, » says the text.

More than 9,000 signatures
Since its launch, the Manifesto has received the support of 9,020 signatories, which have endorsed the text both On the Change.org platform – Where they have already paralyzed the collection of names – as on their website, where the possibility of registering is still open. The text has received the support of 146 members of the Judiciary among which is Joaquín Giménez, emeritus magistrate of the Supreme Court, who calls this manifesto as « necessary » and indicates that « there are times when it is not enough to understand some situations, but that you have to commit. » He considers that the opening of the case against the attorney general, « respecting the solution », was « a total nonsense », that the processing suffers from disproportion « and where there is disproportion, there is no justice, » he says. Justice, according to this magistrate, « is weighting, is balance, is the opposite of excess, and the processing (of the case of the attorney general) suffers from a very clear excess. »

The association was established on August 6 in order to defend the rule of law in Spain and its legal-constitutional guarantees and after the concern that dozens of people from different sectors of civil society feel for the « prolonged derivation of justice that affects the trust and credibility of one of the basic pillars of the rule of law. » The Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Association, Jesús Morón, affirms that they launched defend yourself in law for the « concern that exists in civil society to so many cases and not understandable judicial interventions that there are open against many people and that have political and social implications that affect the credibility of justice. » Morón indicates that the association will be « proactive » and that in the future will open other debates related to the functioning of justice as the situation in the General Council of the Judiciary.
