Jordan Bardella is soap and likes candy – and he stands for an extreme politics, writes Lisa Magnusson
Marine Le Pen is sentenced to four years in prison for embezzlement of public funds, and will not be able to stand in the French presidential election in 2027. Thus, an era seems to go to the grave.
It all started with the National Front, created by her father, right -wing extremist Jean Marie Le Pen, in 1972. In 2011 she took over the leadership, and made a clean house. In the big cleaning, her own father smoked, in a brusque exclusion, as well as the party’s name. Since 2018, it is called national collection instead.
And now she puts this in her hands of her own heir, Jordan Bardella.
He himself is – Interesting enough – an example of successful immigration and integration. He grew up as the only child of a poor Italian immigrant woman in one of Paris’s most vulnerable suburbs. In the party he has made such a comet career that it only appeared logically when he dropped out the studies at the prestigious Sorbonne University to devote himself to politics full time.
Far away is now Jean Marie Le Pen’s trifling of the Holocaust: Jordan Bardella goes on official visits to Israel, and participates in conferences against anti -Semitism.
The question is, of course, how sincere the anti -racist approaches are, and how much they are about wanting to position himself against the group that today’s immigrant opponents consider the great threat: Muslims.
More and more Europeans are looking at what has characterized the nationalist parties here in recent years, and which Jordan Bardella is also part of.
He is soap in that somewhat antiseptic, Jordan Bardella, and well -dressed, goes home for younger generations. At Tiktok, he appears almost apolitical – fastened at the top of his side is a clip about how much he loves sweets (5.2 million views).
But the light is deceiving. Jordan Bardella stands for a radical policy: by stopping – and rolling back – immigration, the genuine French values should be restored.
So there it sounds In many places now; There is a strong right wind through the world.
But after Donald Trump became president of the United States, with his insanity, he has changed the political landscape. More and more Europeans are looking at what has characterized the nationalist parties here in recent years, and which Jordan Bardella is also a part of: resistance to the EU, and the friendship towards the despot Putin and the Russia that fights against Europe and threatens its existence.
The EU needs France; The country is one of Union’s most important pillars. But France also needs the EU. For what is this nation really without the democracy, the equality and the brother and sisterhood that once built it?
Politicians like Jordan Bardella are the last to hook arm with, if you safeguard the survival of European values.
