The mother of the 12-year-old boy who died on Monday evening after a collision by a police car returned to the scene of the accident. She broke out in tears surrounded by her family.
The mother came together on Tuesday morning by her family to commemorate her deceased son. They laid flowers and burned candles. Her son was hit by a police vehicle on Monday evening after a chase that started in Koekelberg. The accident took place in the Elisabeth Park in the neighboring Brussels municipality of Ganshoren.
“The mom could see her son last night (Monday, ed.). She was able to say goodbye. He died through a heavy head wound. His heart kept beating all the time, but he turned out to be brain dead, « says a friend of the mother. » We don’t understand why he was being chased. He was just with his friends. «
According to our information, the boy drove with the scooter and someone else was sitting on the back. It could possibly be the reason why the police wanted to check him. The boy was also too young to ride the scooter (For an electric scooter you have to be 16 years old, ed.).
