Jenny Lindh tips on the best audio books right now

« The serious game »

Author: Hjalmar Söderberg. Reader: Per Myrberg.
Length: 6 hours 57 min

Welcome audio book lovers and skeptics! We start with an arch classic, and in the future we will also mix the best of the new with jewels that you must not miss out of the older publication. There are, as many of you know, books that are too good to only be listened to by high school students who cheat with the reading homework. Per Myrberg's reading is the audio book that it looks like in Plato's idea world – a work of art in its own right – which also happens to be the book that converted me to the format. Yet skeptical? On with cheats, seek out the Johannskvarter, hear him sigh ”and the years went » under the tough marshime.

« Impossible creatures »

Author: Katherine Rundell. Reader: Ludvig Josephson.
Length: 9 hours 56 min

All-age fantasy acclaimed for its originality, and although just that praise is exaggerated-Rundell boils soup on staple goods-you get excited when the young genre dares to struggle with the vocabulary of a delicious professor from the turn of the last century. Words like « parable » learn to generate confusion among younger listeners, the climate crisis theme lower the mental pH of woke-hypersensitive (myself I want plastic diet). Reader Josephson is the most magical of everything, with his sexy-investigator-on-bup voice that makes you want to cozy up if he so marathon-read Elon Musk's post on X.

“The connection. Marie-Antoinette and Axel von Fersen ”

Author: Kristina Ekero Eriksson. Reader: Philomène Grandin, Lasse (AI), Stefan (AI).
Length: 13 hours

No less than three votes can be chosen in this review of Swedish history's most mushiest love story. But in practice, it is just one, the Iy « Ai-Lasse » and « Ai-Stefan » pronounce French names much like one would expect from two called « Ai-Lasse » and « Ai-Stefan ». Sometimes you get the feeling of fact book for young people – because should not have to be informed that Rousseau was « a well -known enlightenment writer »? At the same time, it is knowledgeable, painting – von Fersen's hemorrhoids are forever carved on my eardrum – with compliant, ear -friendly prose.

« The one who guard the flock »

Author: Johan Rundberg. Reader: Lo Kauppi.
Length: 15 hours 20 min

Late winter's greatest excitement takes place in Täby, where a newly showered Le Creuset family falls into chaos after the daughter is shut down from the school. How could the girl end up so wrong? Who is her suspicious best friend, a controlling classmate with a protected identity? Nicely threaded plot, fascinating theme that goes again in several current suspense novels – parents who are afraid of their own children. Linguistically, August prize winners Rundberg sweeps the carpet with the genre competitors and Lo Kauppi reads as if she stares straight into the killer's revolver.

« The door »

Author: Magda Szabó. Reader: Julia Dufvenius.
Length: 9 hours 46 min

For those of us who missed the radio follow -up: Finally, Hungarian Szabó's masterpieces are available as an audio book. And: What a audio book! The story is one thing, it is impossible not to be hypnotized by housekeeper Emerentia who hides God knows what dirt behind her nitically locked door, but Dufvenius succeeds with his drama diction and something I want to call the « fragile strength of the voice » give even more dignity to the portrait. So book club optimized that printed version should be sold on the company together with budget wine, so gripping that the audio variant is mostly enjoyed behind one's own regulated door.

« The narrow happiness »

Author: Hans Gunnarsson. Reader: Christoffer Svensson.
Length: 5 hours 47 min

Posters' novels that have already been praised as intensely as Postnord is hated, quite just as of course because Hans Gunnarsson is Sweden's most fun writer with superb ear for formulations that sound so wonderfully, lovely goofy. Here you do not eat – you « take a piece of food ». Located you do not, you want to be close « in a more active manner ». The result is the feeling of being in the same room as any participants in « Gift at first sight », or on a date with male librarian, and if it is to be read it should be exactly the way: Restrained, with infectious heat.

All the books can be found at the audio book services Storytel, Nextory, Bookbeat.
