Jean Paul Gauthier has appointed Duran Lantink as a permanent creative director
The Aleso passed by the Chito Abe, Glen Martens, Olivier Rustein, Hayer Ackerman, Simon Rosha, etc., but now the brand is changing its strategy and appoints Netherlander Duran Lantink as a permanent director to manage both the pre-a-port collections and those for the fashion.
« In it, I find the energy, the audacity and the desire to have fun through the clothing that I myself had when I started, » says designer Jean-Paul Gautith in a brand press. |
« I consider Jean -Paul Gautith as a genius. He is part of the generation that broke many doors so that people like us go through them freely and be who we are without excuse – adds Duran Lantink. » To take the role of a creative director is a real one. by which we carry it on the street. «
The luxury fashion relies on the change of designers, but it hides dangers
However, with his appointment, the 37-year-old Dutch designer will interrupt his work on his own brand, which he founded in 2016, in which he was betting on unisex clothing made of recycled materials. He made his breakthrough in 2018 with the Pantloni reminiscent of vaginas worn by American singer Janel Monet and her dancers in the video for the song Pynk. Last year, Lantink won LVMH’s Carl Lagerfeld Award, which is awarded to rising stars in fashion.
Duran Lantink’s first collection for Jean Paul Gauthier will be shown this September at the Fashion Week in Paris, and in January 2026 he will also present his first high fashion collection.
