US Vice President Jay Di Vance has said the new customs duties released by Donald Trump are a « big change », but also a necessary turnaround for the US economy.
– We are indebted to Chinese farmers to buy what the same farmers produce. It is not a recipe for prosperity, low prices, no good jobs in America, « Vance told Fox News, criticizing the model of globalist economy that he claims to have led the United States to a large debt and dependence on foreign production.
– At the moment, President Trump is leading the economy in the other direction, based on the campaign, that is what he promised and now he is fulfilling. Yes, this is a big change, I will not hide. But we needed a big change – he added.
Vance noted that the administration « works hard » to lower prices, but warned that changes would not happen overnight. He also said high prices would be the result of inflation from Biden’s mandate, not Trump’s actions.
He said of the announced tax cuts that he did not see them as compensation for customs, but as part of a « total turn » that would reward US workers and companies.
