The Holocaust is a reminder of the dreadful consequences of intolerance, hatred and discrimination, and we as a government remain committed to the fight against anti -Semitism, hate speech and all forms of discrimination, Deputy Finance Minister Nikolche Jankulovski said at today's 11th day.

On behalf of the government delegation, including Deputy Ministers Viktoria Trajkov and Marjan Risteski, Jankulovski pointed out that current and future generations should learn from history, build a society based on peace, understanding and solidarity.

-With deep respect and sadness we remember 7,144 Macedonian Jews who were taken away from their homes and deported to Treblinka camp where their lives were forcibly interrupted. In the heart of Bitola, a city with deep historical roots and multicultural heritage, we stand united in the memory of this tragedy, but also with the determination to preserve the memory and convey a strong message to the future. The Holocaust is a reminder of the terrible consequences of intolerance, hatred and discrimination. As a government we remain committed to the fight against anti -Semitism, hate speech and all forms of discrimination. Today we are not only here to regret, but also to send a message that we will never allow such injustice to be repeated. We bow down to the victims, but we also urge current and future generations to learn from history, to build a society based on peace, understanding and solidarity – said Jankulovski.

The memory of March 11, 1943 is important, because if we do not speak, that day will be forgotten, said Radojka Helman Denkovska, Vice President of the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia.

-We celebrate this important day for us Macedonian Jews because if we do not mention, that day will be forgotten. We must remind you to know the young generations that happened and never repeated to anyone. The message from Bitola and Macedonia to the world is that we must mention because this can happen to anyone, and no more survivors who can tell and tell about the fatal morning and the Holocaust in general. We descendants of the Jewish community are here to speak out loud and not to repeat anyone – said Helman Denkovska.

At a commemoration in Bitola, Shelley Levi Drumer, the granddaughter of Haim Abravanel who lives in Israel today, said that Bitola should become an open urban museum of all Jewish communities in the Balkans. Bitola is a story, Bitola is a great Jewish center and Bitola must continue to tell the history of Jewish.

Tradition with great dedication is maintained by the city of Bitola because, as Mayor Toni Konjanovski said, coexistence has no price, and friendship, peace and cooperation are the attributes we need to respect.

-Bitola pays tribute to over 3,300 of our fellow citizens, guilds, doctors, craftsmen, all those who shared life with the citizens of Bitola. We are reminded of the dark moments and pay tribute to the traditional procession of the living that takes place next to the Bitola train station where our fellow citizens were deported. Coexistence has no price, friendship, peace and cooperation are the attributes we need to respect – emphasized Konjanovski.

Flowers in front of the monument to the deported Jews from Bitola and the folk heroine Estreja Ovadia Mara laid a delegation of the Macedonian Parliament, representatives of the Jewish community, the Union of Fighters from Bitola, the local self -government and political parties of the city.

Tomorrow commemoration for the deported Macedonian Jews will be held in Stip, and on March 11 in Skopje.
