Jaksic: The SDP has left the terrain in recent years

Commenting on the first round of local elections, especially the situation in Dalmatia and Slavonia, SDP Vice President Michel Jaksic, who won 71 percent of the vote on Sunday by renewing the mayor’s mandate in Koprivnica, believes that the party has left the field quite in recent years.

« The party has recently worked campsites in some parts, it did not work enough or did not work at all. In these parts of Croatia, a big job is waiting, » said Jaksic Hini.

The north, he explains, is another story, given that there is a responsibility for the run of individual municipalities, cities and counties. This is certainly a clear and measurable results that have gained the better quality of life of citizens.

« It’s the secret of the success of the north, » Jaksic claims. On the other hand, it should be said that in the number of seats, the progress of the party in Slavonia and Dalmatia can be seen, but it will need to rush the sleeves well for more serious results, he added.

Asking to comment on the SDP loss of Sisak and Rijeka, Jaksic says the loss of these environments is certainly hurting.

« But let’s wait for the end of the election cycle to make analyzes from which we will introduce conclusions that will help us back to the middle of the SDP, » Jaksic said.

On the other hand, he points out that he is pleased that the SDP in the second round will receive a mayor in Koprivnica-Križevci County. He also believes in victory in Varaždin, Zagreb, Istrian, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and the victory of the party candidate for the mayor of Pula is visible. A great match is played in Dubrovnik, in Zadar County are also entering the second round, the City of Zadar, the Šibenik-Knin County and the City of Šibenik.

So, he points out, there are many field results that say that the SDP is done better and differently. In addition, in the cities of the county headquarters, the counties themselves have been conquered by several seats than four years ago. However, despite this, there is an awareness that the party will have to work otherwise in the coming period.

He says the shift of leadership in the SDP is not possible after the local elections. It has absolute legitimacy.

Asked if he had ambitions in due course of becoming the president of the party, he replies that his SDP’s ambition is the ambition to the SDP in the next parliamentary election and be part of the Government team led by the President of the Party.
