Ivica Tafra: Today 35 years ago, the HDZ achieved a historic victory in Croatia
The President of the HDZ Founder Community « Dr. Franjo Tudjman » Ivica Tafra sent a statement ahead of the local elections in Croatia, which will be held in May. Tafra recalled multi -party elections 35 years ago. We convey his statement in full:
On this day, thirty -five years ago, in the then socialist Croatia, the first round of general multi -party elections was completed. It was already perfectly clear at that moment that the moment of big, or deep political changes came, because the voters mostly supported the Croatian Democratic Union, and the authorities replaced the ruling communists yesterday.
When they became known complete results after the second round, it turned out that the HDZ won most of the mandate in the councils of the then parliament, ie 205 or almost 60 percent. At the same time, the HDZ has mostly achieved absolute victories in local elections, that is, to reach a majority and in 60 percent of the municipalities at the time.
With full justification, this electoral victory should be considered historical and fractured not only because the political party came to the forefront of Croatia, led by Croats in the fight for national freedom and democracy, but because it finally defeated the democracy as the foundation of the modern Croatian state.
Led by Dr. Franjo Tudjman, the Croatian people manifested their will in the election and set off on the establishment of their own state independence. The Founder’s Community invites everyone to highlight the Croatian wins who thank this fractured constituent victory and the winning Homeland War today freely in a free, democratic and sovereign Croatian state! Homeland Faithful, Ready for Croatia!
