Italian-Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce celebrates birthday | Luxembourg word
In the Cerclé Cité of the City of Luxembourg, the Camera di Commercio Italo-Lechembburghese welcomed Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, the Italian ambassador Carmine Robustelli as well as many representatives from politics and business.
The Camera di Commercio Italo-Lechemburghese represents more than 300 members. Many Italian companies have a branch, their administrative center or holding center in Luxembourg, starting with Ferrero or Beretta. In addition, the investment company Delfin, which manages the assets of the Luxottica founder Leonardo del Vecchio, is 13 percent involved in Luxair.
In April there were four Italian banks in Luxembourg. The number has decreased significantly for the past 20 years: in 2005 there were 15 banks from Italy. Almost nine percent of funds in Luxembourg come from Italian initiators, which is six percent, that is 351 billion euros, the Luxembourg fund assets.

The largest family -run construction company in Luxembourg, Félix Giortetti, was founded by an Italian. The descendants of the Italian immigrants of the 19th and 20th centuries have the Luxembourg citizenship today. A report by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the number of Luxembourgers with Italian descent is around 20,000.
According to the latest available data, around 24,676 Italian citizens lived in Luxembourg on January 1, 2023, which corresponds to around 3.7 percent of the total population. This number marked an increase of 36.6 percent since 2011 when the Italian population in the country was still 18,059. Italians thus present the third largest foreign community in Luxembourg, according to the Portuguese and French.
In addition, thousands of Italians from France, Belgium and Germany come to Luxembourg every day, also to work in the European institutions.
According to Statec, Luxembourg exported 2024 to Italy worth 684 million euros and resulted in goods worth 699 million euros from there.
