It will be expensive for Amazon customers in the USA

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said on Thursday in an interview with CNBC that he had seen no change in consumer behavior since President Donald Trump announced tariffs against several countries last week. The Bloomberg news agency reports. Trump exposed many of these tariffs on Wednesday, but increased the tariffs to China, from where Amazon moves into a large part of his goods.

In 2023, sales in North America (without Amazon Web Services) were around $ 352.8 billion. According to a study by Marketplace Pulse from 2024, Chinese sellers exceeded the 50 percent of the market share on Amazon.com in the USA for the first time. These dealers represent almost half of the gross -like volume of third -party providers on the platform.

As far as the origin of the products sold, a survey showed that 71 percent of the products sold in the USA were produced in China at Amazon, followed by the USA with 30 percent. In the interview, Amazon boss Jassy said that he would expect rising prices on the in-house online marketplace, since retailers would pass on the increased customs costs to customers.

According to CNBC, Amazon itself has already made strategic purchases to fill its own warehouse and canceled some direct imports for products from China. The company’s stock price, which has its European seat in Luxembourg, lost 8.7 percent in the month comparison.
