On June 23, early morning, Mike was attacked by a group of men. He broke his nose, fell to the ground, hitting his head, which caused serious injuries.
After a long month of fighting for life, his condition deteriorated, and he spent the next months in a vegetative state.

After returning to Great Britain, Mike was taken to the hospital in Salford, where he was completely dependent on care for a year. Unfortunately, in August 2019 he died at the age of 48.
Mike’s family, despite the passage of years, still does not know the answer to the question of what exactly happened in Benidorm. « We can’t move on because we have no answers, » says his daughter, Hayley in an interview with Mirror.co.uk. He adds that over the years of investigation there have been contradictory versions of events that only deepened the feeling of loss and frustration.
Nobody was responsible
Mike, being with a group of friends at the Hippodrome bar, got into a quarrel, which ended in a tragic fall and serious head injuries. The Spanish police ended the investigation without charging, and the investigation conducted by detectives from Greater Manchester also did not bring any specific results.
Despite the interrogation of over 15 witnesses, the perpetrators of the attack remain unknown, and Mike’s family still cannot accept the lack of response and justice.
