It was as if the moon was bitten by the sun
People all over the northern hemisphere were gathering in the morning to capture the view of the partial solar eclipse, that is, the position when the moon « set » between the sun and the earth. Since the three were not fully aligned, it was, from the UK, covered only 30 to 40 percent of the sun. The next partial solar eclipse visible from the UK will be in 2090, and in August 2026 another complete solar eclipse will be seen in much of Europe, including parts of Spain.
Even before today’s partial solar eclipse are astronomers as reported Guardian, announced that it can be observed in parts of the UK today between 10am and 12pm and in several other parts of the world, including Western Europe, Greenland, northwest Africa and northeast North America. The best location for observation in the UK is supposed to be more northwest, in parts of northern Ireland and Scotland.

« The eclipse will not be perfect, but there are parts of Canada where it will be around 90 %, » he said Jake Foster from the King’s Observatory, adding: « So it will be very impressive there. »
And it was true… Robert Massey, Deputy Director of the Royal Astronomical Society, from Lewes in Sussex, said: “There is a really nice crowd of people, everyone is very excited. Many wear an eclipse glasses and look through the telescopes we put. «
Observers of the sky in the wide part of the northern hemisphere had the opportunity to see the moon as if they were biting the sun as the eclipse spread from eastern Canada to Siberia.

Imo Bell, Astronomer from the Royal Observatory of Greenwich, at 11.15 he was excited: “Nothing was unexpected, but that is cool The thing, we know this has been going on for a very long time. We now have technology and understanding of the universe to predict these things up to a second. «

Or, as Foster says: « These eclipses, whether they are partial or perfect, actually observe the clock’s operation in the solar system. »
On Saturday, the meteorological office announced that the southern and eastern parts of the UK will have the best conditions for observation, with a more cloudy sky in the north and west.

The partial eclipse, which is the first year and 17, in this century, lasted about four hours from 8.50 to 12.43 in Central European time.
The next partial solar eclipse visible in the United Kingdom will be in August 2026, when it is expected to reach a 90 % topic.
However, it will be visible as a complete solar eclipse in much of Europe, including parts of Spain. The next perfect solar eclipse visible from the UK will be in 2090.
