– It must end that politicians can hide behind the boards
The health enterprise model must be scrapped as in the UK
It is overtime to find a better way to organize hospitals. Ap must stop holding on to systems that do not work. Ap should learn from its British sister party, and join the Center Party to investigate alternatives to the health enterprise model.
In the UK, Prime Minister Kier Starmer for the Labor Government says that they will discontinue the health enterprise model in their National Health Services. The Prime Minister will lay what corresponds to the Norwegian regional health authorities under the Ministry of Health. Kier Starmer says that the time for politicians to hide behind the directorate and enterprises are over – politicians must be made responsible. He also says that the bureaucracy has run running and is a hindrance for the health care system.
The health enterprises’ financial management is based on the Accounting Act by model from the private sector, which is designed for profitability management in business companies. This model is associated with the political orientation that Britain’s former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher of The Conservative Party was in charge of the late 1980s.
The Center Party finds that significant changes in hospital services often lack democratic legitimacy. Health Ministers can refer to the health authorities’ grieving responsibility when it suits the government best, and the companies can twist away from formulations in assignment letters and business meetings. In addition, it must be tightened in operations, to make investments. The Center Party believes that the health enterprise model must be replaced by a better management model for a democratic leadership of Norwegian hospitals as well. We must also have an even better interaction about the patients with the municipalities.
