The approval of the council is required

The next Kaunas Council meeting will be held on April 18. City politicians will have to decide on this project. As long as there is no council approval, the municipal administration does not intend to build a monument to A. Gustaitis, although specialists have no doubt about the importance and consequences of this personality that made the whole Lithuania famous.

« The personality of A. Gustaitis and his merits to Lithuanian aviation in fact are extraordinary: Lithuanian Military Aviation Commander, Brigadier General, Airline Construction, author of nine anbo aircraft, » said Saulius Rimas, head of the Cultural Heritage Department.

He noted that the municipality has not received any specific proposals of the monument yet.

« If the Council approves the draft Council’s decision, the project competition will be organized, the participants of which will be able to offer the most appropriate place of commemoration, » Rim said.

In order to safety other people, all types of aircraft were tried by themselves.

« The installation of a work of a work dedicated to A. Gustaitis could take place through the Kaunas Accelerate Program, but if the Council approves the draft Council’s decision, an open project tender will be organized in accordance with the procedure established by the Law on Public Procurement, » the head of the Cultural Heritage Department added.

As long as there are no ideas, it is difficult to say how much such a monument could cost. Usually the price depends on the shape of the monument, the materiality, the location.

« We cannot assess the amount without these data, » Rim said.
