As the attitude towards charity and support has changed in Lithuania in recent years, whether people willingly contribute to it, what the fund has been the most memorable of the children’s dreams and what help at the moment the little ones are missing – a conversation with R. Kaukėnas.

Changed attitudes towards support and charity

R. Kaukėnas says that over a decade, the fund has expanded significantly – new initiatives, a larger volunteer squad have added. During that time, the culture of sacrifice and charity changed.

« In the past, most sensitive topics in society were not spoken at all, so it was difficult to imagine that we could allocate our own funds to something we don’t know and never meet. Now people have more desire to share because they realize that the situations in which children under the care of the fund.

According to him, throughout the year, a large group of sponsors of the fund has been able to bring together well -known people – directors, event organizers, performers to volunteers to help organize events, introduce children to their activities, crafts or hobbies, to companies contributing to financial support.

« We have long -term supporters, silent benefactors who are always ready to help, advise, support in many ways. Along with financial support, which allows you to pay expensive uncompensated research, medication or finance rehabilitation after overcoming oncological disease, as well as very important help on time, ideas. Introducing professions, learning how to make candy, for example, learn how to weave friendship bracelets, etc., ”said R. Kaukėnas.

Companies are increasingly changing parties to support

According to him, it is also gratifying that companies are increasingly choosing charity instead of allocating funds for festive parties or gifts. Such initiatives, he says, help keep children’s promise to fulfill their dreams, create the most colorful childhood, even if it is currently in the oncology department.

“For example, this January, our longtime partner, Venipak, has helped to fulfill the dream of a strong fighter evening. Due to its severe condition and extremely poor immunity, the boy was almost released from the ward, so he was very missed by children’s entertainment and fun moments. The Venipak team, after hearing the passion of the evening for big cars and a desire to have a toy truck, began and fulfilled this dream despite difficult circumstances. The hero’s smile, which was from ear to ear, was more eloquent than any words, ”the basketball player shared.

In general, he says, it is good to feel the support of such strong, Lithuanian companies and their employees, and it is clear that the overall desire to create a more beautiful daily life is becoming a reality.

Asked if there are more children’s dreams or stories that were most stuck in the memory during the years of the fund, Kaukėnas said that he was the most memorable of the emotions that arise in organizing surprises for the little ones.

« All the dreams of children are unique, but the most sensitive to the amazement of children is when they can be a surprise to the moment when the greatest desire reaches the child’s hands. Those emotions are not spoken in any words and not.
