– Yes, all municipalities are obliged to finance children’s summer camps. They are bound by the municipal law, which means that their duty and responsibility are to ensure the employment of children. However, how to do it and how much funds are allocated – the municipalities themselves decide.
– Which municipalities are the most generous that most modestly supports children’s camps? What amounts are these?
– the most generous – the big municipalities. For example, the city of Vilnius allocated 800,000 in 2024. Kaunas, Kaunas – 500 thousand. euros. However, there are municipalities that only allocate several thousand. I think funding is highly dependent on municipal priorities.

– What do the amounts awarded by municipalities show?
– This shows that municipalities have higher priorities to finance summer employment and summer camps.
– How can parents find out if the camp they choose is funded?
– Most municipalities announce funding competitions. The organizers of the camps apply for applications, and if they meet the criteria set, the municipality allocates funds. The organizers then invite children to participate in camps, and parents can directly contact the organizers to receive their children.
– Is funding always 100 percent, or usually only partial?
– There are different ways. Some camps are free, others have to pay. The price depends on the program, the duration, or the camp with or without the accommodation.

– How often do families take advantage of such funding?
– Approximately one in six pupils use the financing of state or municipalities in Lithuania – about 17 percent. However, the numbers vary greatly depending on the municipality. Some are involved in every other child, in others, just one in fifty.
– What is the average amount per child?
– On average, the municipality allocates about 10 euros per child. This average is calculated on the basis of the number of children studying in the municipality. Some municipalities, such as Kalvarija, Visaginas and Radviliškis, allocate more than 25 euros per child.

– There are no significant changes – the number of participants remains similar.
– What do parents usually choose camps for children?
– First of all, by price. Later, the competencies that the child may acquire, the skills that can be improved and the overall benefits of activity can be improved.
– Who is the most common funding? What direction do municipalities support?
– I think the various directions are supported – it all depends on the municipal priorities.
