« It is deep inhuman. » The Federation of Cancer Patients’ Associations took the attitude

Federation of Associations of Cancer Patients He said that he is « deep inhuman » as initiatives in support of oncological patients « to be blocked for years » by City Hall. The organization is mourning, in a Facebook post, the serious delay in issuing the building permit for a new building in Bucharest, intended for oncological patients.

The press release, signed by the president of the federation, Cezar Irimia, came after the mayor Nicuşor Dan was accused by Crin Antonescu and the former Secretary of State in the Ministry of Health Alexandru Rogobete (PSD) of postponing the signing of the respective authorization, which he has now done under the pressure of the election.

« It is deep inhuman as initiatives in support of oncological patients to be blocked for years by the City Hall of Bucharest
The Federation of the Association of Cancer Patients is lamented the serious delay in issuing the building permit for a new building in Bucharest, intended for oncological patients.
It is regrettable that such projects for the benefit of cancer patients become approved by the authorities only under the intense pressure of public opinion, during the election campaign period.
It is deep inhuman as initiatives in support of oncological patients to be blocked for years by the Capital City Hall, because of bureaucratic reasons, who put the lives of people on the second level. It is not, unfortunately, the only case in which local administrations or central institutions neglect the urgent needs of patients in Romania, refusing their chances of life.
We greet in this context any public or private initiative that gives an additional chance to cancer patients. We note that, whether oncological patients are treated at a state hospital or a private hospital, most of the treatment costs are borne by the state. It is therefore in the interest of Romania to have several hospital treatment institutions and more beds for oncological patients.
We also want Romania to do more, at the local and central level, for Romanian patients – especially for those affected by serious diseases.
We hope that this situation in the Capital will be a national mobilization signal for the cause of cancer patients, for faster investments in order to save lives – both by prevention and through treatment, ”the press release states.
