It is clear to Trump that Putin is misleading, says Ukrainian Ambassador
According to Ukrainian representatives, the hesitation of Russia in the realization of the partial ceasefire achieved in the first half Donald Trump and revealed the size of the challenge, bringing negotiations on the end of the three -year war in Ukraine. « It is clear to Trump and his advisers that Russia /…/ does not intend to take a small step on the way to peace, » the Ukrainian ambassador to Slovenia explained during a conversation with a group of Slovenian journalists Petro Bešta.
« We hope that the balance so far is changing, » commented Petro Best, a Ukrainian ambassador to Slovenia, a different tone of Trump’s statements. Photo: work

Moscow’s falsehood, he said, underlined, among other things, the proposal of the Russian president Vladimir Putinthat before the start of any ceasefire, the transition administration under the auspices of the United Nations is assumed in Ukraine. Best described the Russian initiative as « provocation », whose sole purpose is to undermine the peace process, saying that the legitimacy of the Ukrainian President, the Government and Parliament is « not questionable ».
Putin’s doubt in the legitimacy of the Ukrainian authorities was, after all, angered by Trump, to such an extent that in a recent interview for Nbc threatened to introduce « secondary » sanctions against countries buying oil from Russia. His warnings were also accompanied by a new legislative draft, which wants a group of fifty Republican and Democratic senators to greatly tighten sanctions against Russia and entities that support her war in Ukraine. The draft, among other things, envisages the introduction of 500 % customs for imports of products from countries that buy Russian « oil, gas, uranium and other products ».
« We hope that the balance so far is changing, » said Tone of Trump’s statements by Best. « It is important that our partners and friends do not make the illusions that Putin wants peace or that he can be convinced that he concludes peace, » the Ukrainian sides said, recalling that Kiev has reached 25 ceases with Moscow between 2014 and 2022, but this did not deter Russia from the invasion of Ukraine.

In this context, Ukrainian representatives insist that Russia can only be stopped on the battlefield or by sanctions.
According to the ambassador, more pressure on Moscow is « the only way to accelerate (peace process) and achieve important results. » « That is why we have proposed and continue to propose the US and the EU to take advantage of all opportunities, and these opportunities are many to introduce more sanctions, » Beshta explained. Among the most logical targets, he highlighted the gray fleet of Russian tankers and the technological sector from which the Russian military complex is powered.
