Israelite air strike kills Hamas’s political leader in Gaza
An Israeli air strike in the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza killed Hamas’ main political leader, Salah al-Bardaweel, and his wife, advances an authority of Hamas to BBC. Israelite authorities have not yet confirmed the information.
According to Hamas, 66 -year -old Bardaweel was praying with his wife when they were hit by an Israelite missile.
Father of eight children, Bardaweel was one of Hamas’s most prominent political figures. Born in Khan Youis’s refugee camp, he was known to be close to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, and is considered part of the second generation of Hamas leadership, following the founders of the movement.
He led the political wing of the Hamas Parliamentary Block and was reelected to the group’s political office in 2021. Following the death of Sinwar and Rawhi Mushtaha, Bardaweel was considered Hamas’s highest -level political leader.
The air strike that killed Bardaweel is part of one of the most intense waves of air bombing in southern Gaza since the breakdown of the ceasefire agreement last Tuesday.
The total number of dead in Gaza since the war began 50,000 on Sunday, health officials managed by Hamas said with at least 30 people killed in Khan Yunis and Rafah until this Sunday.
The Israeli forces resumed intense attacks in Gaza earlier this week, ending the first phase of a ceasefire that lasted almost two months. Israel blamed Hamas for rejecting a new US proposal to extend the truce agreement.
