Israel wants to have targeted Hamas terrorists-Diepresse.com

The Palestinian agency Wafa speaks of a « targeted attack » to a Palestinian journalist. Israel also speaks of a « targeted » action – against Hamas terrorists.

According to Palestinian information, there were three deaths in an attack on a clinic in the Gaza Strip. Israel’s army said that she had « targeted important Hamas terrorists » who were active in a command and control center in the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. The Palestinian news agency Wafa, on the other hand, spoke of a « targeted attack » on the Palestinian journalist Hassan Eslaiah, which was treated in the clinic.

The information on both sides could initially not be checked independently. Eslaiah (other spellings: Aslieh/Aslih) had already been seriously injured in an attack near the Nasser Hospital last month. The Israeli army said at the time that the Palestinian took part in the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023. He had penetrated in the Israeli area and also made pictures of murders, arson and looting and published on social media. As a freelance journalist, he delivered photos of the AP news agency, of which a few in October 2023 also entered the DPA image radio.

The World Health Organization (WHO) was informed that a department for fire injuries had been hit, said Rik Peeperkorn, the WHO representative in the Palestinian areas. He spoke of two dead, a life -threatening person and eleven other injuries.

According to clinic employees, several injuries also

« High-ranking Hamas representatives continue to use the hospital for terrorist activities, » said a message from the Israeli military. Employees of the clinic spoke of three dead and several injuries. Among the injuries are also the hospital staff. The Israeli army initially made no information about possible victims.

According to the Committee on the Protection of Journalists (CPJ) from the beginning of May, at least 178 journalists have been killed since the beginning of the Gaza War. Israel has accused Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip several times to work for Hamas. Several media in the sealed coastal strip are close to the Islamist organization. Some critics see the allegations against local reporters, but also a tactic of Israel to suppress critical reporting from the war zone. Foreign journalists have largely banned access to the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war. (APA/dpa)
