Israel closes Gaza from humanitarian aid after expiring first phase file, Hamas wants to go to the second phase

Israel closes access to humanitarian aid, such as food and tents, to Gaza. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this on Sunday, writing international press agencies. « All input of goods and stocks will be stopped from this morning, » says Israel. The reason for the end of the first phase of the file between Israel and Hamas and the 'refusal' of Hamas is the reason for accepting the proposal of Steve Witkoff, special envoy for the Middle East on behalf of the United States.

On Saturday evening, Israel announced that it wants to extend the first phase of the truce by six weeks. With that, Israel has taken over the proposal that Witkoff did earlier. According to that proposal, half of the 59 Israeli hostages who are still stuck in Gaza would be transferred to Israel. Part of them died.

Hamas calls the decision of Netanyahu to stop humanitarian aid « cheap extortion, a war crime and a gross attack on the file ». In an earlier statement on Sunday against AFP news agency, the group demanded that the second phase of the ceasefire is being implemented. « The only way to achieve stability in the region and to achieve the return of prisoners is to complete the implementation of the agreement. Starting with the implementation of the second phase, « says Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardoui. « This is what we insist on and we will keep our back straight, » he adds.

During the first phase of the file, which ended on Saturday, Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners were exchanged. Humanitarian aid was also admitted. Israel has violated the file several times, among other things by not allowing the agreed amount of help in the Gaza Strip.

In the second phase, Israel must completely withdraw his soldiers from the Gaza Strip and agreements are made about a permanent ceasefire.
