However, there are certain items that can cause major problems if they are found by the police during a routine check.
One of the most overlooked and yet serious violations occurs when, without thinking about it, you have a knife lying in the car.
Knife in the car? It can be illegal
In Denmark, knives and sting weapons are regulated through both the gun laws and Knife Law.
It is forbidden to carry or store knives in public places without a recognizable purpose, and this also applies in cars that are on public roads or space.
However, all folding knives with a leaf under 7 centimeters are legal. If you have a larger knife, you risk being punished.
Even ordinary kitchen or hobby knives can be illegal if you do not have a good reason to transport them.
What can it cost?
If you violate the rules, it can have serious consequences.
As a starting point, it costs you a fine of 10,000 kroner – even if this is the first time you are taken.
