Is a truly fair agreement

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski welcomed the agreement on Wednesday, according to him, « truly equitable » signed with the United States on access to Ukraine mineral resources, a document that has been in negotiations for several weeks, AFP reports.

‘The agreement has changed significantly during the training process. This is now a truly fair agreement, which creates opportunities for significant investments in Ukraine, « Zelenski said in his daily speech.

The United States and Ukraine signed Washington a vast economic agreement on Wednesday in which an investment fund is created for the reconstruction of this country devastated by the war and gives the Trump administration access to Ukrainian natural resources.

This agreement intervenes in parallel with multiple diplomatic negotiations in progress to find a conflict solution, three years after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The text does not seem to include American security guarantees against Russia, which Ukraine requested and on which Volodimir Zelenski insisted.

The agreement provides for the creation of an ‘investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, which will be funded and managed equally by Ukrainians and Americans.

The amount of Ukrainian mining resources remains unclear, largely not exploited, difficult to extract or de facto under the control of Russia, because they are found in the territories occupied by the Russian forces or threatened by their offensive.
