Iran provides conditions for negotiations with the USA about nuclear program – Diepresse.com
Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi calls for the relaxation of sanctions as a prerequisite for a new nuclear agreement.
Iran is ready for the negotiations on his nuclear program offered by US President Donald Trump, but provides conditions. Sections are impossible as long as the US government did not relax the sanctions against the Islamic Republic, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi made it clear on Sunday. Meanwhile, the security advisor Trump, Mike Waltz, demanded the full task of his nuclear program from Iran.
« All options are on the table, » said Waltz in a TV interview, « and it is time that Iran is completely deployed from its pursuit of a nuclear weapon. » If Tehran had nuclear weapons, the entire Middle East would explode in a arms race. « This is completely unacceptable for our national security. » He did not want to reveal any further details about the « back and forth » with Tehran on request.
US signal to Iran: « Let’s put together »
The US specialist Steve Witkoff said in the US broadcaster Fox News: « Our signal to Iran is, let’s put together and see whether we can get to the right point through dialogue and diplomacy. » He also said: « We don’t have to solve everything militarily. » If no agreement is made, the alternative is not a good thing.
Trump had announced at the beginning of March that he sent a letter to the head of Iran, Ajatollah Ali Khamenei. At the same time, he announced that either an agreement would be concluded or there was a military solution. Since taking office in January, Trump has already increased the pressure with several rounds of sanctions that are supposed to block Iranian oil exports and thus the most important source of income for foreign exchange.
Khamei has rejected Trump’s negotiating offer as a « deception », but his government did not strike the door for talks. Araqchi had already said on Thursday that the government in Tehran would soon respond to the « threats and opportunities » of the letter.
Uranium increasingly enriched
The background to the clashes are fears that Iran struts under the guise of a civilian nuclear program for nuclear weapons. The Islamic Republic denies working on the development of such a weapon. However, Iran’s supplies have risen to an uranium that was enriched with up to 60 percent purity – i.e. near the weapon -compatible quality of around 90 percent – as a sudden, as the International Atomic Energy Authority IAEA announced at the end of February.
