Investigation of the tragedy in Kocani expanded with 19 new suspects
The Kocani Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office today has ordered to expand the investigation into the fire at the Pulse Kocani disco with 19 new people suspected of serious offenses against general security, the State Prosecutor’s Office said tonight. The Ministry of Interior informed that in coordination with the Kocani Prosecutor’s Office, criminal charges were filed against these persons.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office said it was a matter of officials, who in the period from 2012 to March 16, 2025 « Joint, but each point of view of their capacity, responsibilities and responsibilities, did not comply with the regulations on protection measures and thus caused a danger to the life and body of people and large -scale property. »
-Among the new suspects are authorized building inspectors in the municipality of Kocani, directors and general inspector from the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Ministers of Economy, State Secretaries and other officials from that ministry, as well as inspectors from the State Market Inspectorate. There are suspicions that their illegal actions and omissions have continuously led to the cabaret club Pulse in Kocani from the very beginning over a longer period until the fire will continue to carry out catering activity without meeting legal requirements and violating all the safety rules. As a result, during the use of pyrotechnics on March 16, 2025, during the performance of the DNA music band, a fire was caused by the deaths of 61 people, including six children and injured 197 people, of which 25 children – informs George.
The prosecution also informed that by the end of the day, the Kocani Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office will submit proposals to the Basic Court in Kocani to determine appropriate measures to ensure the presence of each of the new suspects.
-With this, to this point, the Kocani Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation against a total of 45 natural and three legal entities. One of them, after the opening of the investigation, died as a result of the injuries sustained in the fire and for these reasons, after fully obtaining medical documentation, the procedure for him will be stopped – the State Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
