Investigation of the fire in Kocani must be completed by June 16 to June 16, Kocevski said
State Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski said today that the investigation into the tragic fire in Kocani, which killed 62 people, would end within the legally prescribed 90 days, ie June 16 or 17.
Kocevski says that 13 public prosecutors are working on this complex and difficult case and expects such intensity to take action, the investigation to be completed in a timely manner.
Kocevski, in a television interview, said that the investigation is currently being brought for a crime of serious offenses against general security.
He said the prosecution began investigating the event from the day, going back to 2012, when the so -called. Cabaret started functioning and when, according to the information so far, omissions were made.
At the end of the investigation, as Kocevski said, an indictment will be filed in which any action of the potential defendants will be explained and determine exactly what the offense can eventually work.
Kocevski pointed out that the investigation includes several institutions, including the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, the Municipality of Kocani, the State Market Inspectorate and the Ministry of Economy, as the issuer of licenses.
-Everyone had certain competencies and the team of public prosecutors estimates that the causal link is the death of the persons in the discotheque. The flaws that led to this were every year, which means they have a causality. Each year, some actions were missed – Kocevski added.
He does not exclude the possibility of expanding the investigation with new people who could possibly be suspected and accused and this can be expected by the last day of the investigation.
Regarding yesterday’s meeting with the parents of the victims, Kocevski said that their questions were answered in accordance with the legal regulations and that they were told all that could have been told at this stage of the investigation.
Regarding allegations of political conducting the investigation and the detention of Kreshnik Bekteshi, Kocevski said the prosecutor’s team does not hold anyone in custody for no reason, including ex -minister Bekteshi.
He explained that detention is determined on the basis of the risk of influencing witnesses, repetition of the offense or escape.
– In the present case, the minister, not only he, and some of the other suspects are in custody, but that does not mean they must remain in custody. Until the public prosecutors assess that there are conditions for detention, they may submit a proposal and the court decides whether or not to determine whether or not to extend the detention or not – said Kocevski.
Asked how it looks at what none of the current ministers in the government have tried to resign, Kocevski responded that it was their personal decision and could not comment.
Regarding the cases of « Besa Trans » and the Tetovo Modular Hospital, Kocevski informed that the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court are acting on these cases and that they are in a second -instance procedure.
Otherwise, yesterday, the Court of Appeal in Stip ruled that former Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi remains in custody, and Kocani’s ex -mayors, Nikolco Iliyev and Ratko Dimitrovski, under house arrest.
The Court of Appeal of eight appeals, as reported, declined seven of them as unfounded and upheld the decisions of the Kocani Basic Court.
