The fire that was created on Tuesday evening in a company that recycles old metal, on the Groendreef in Brussels, has been completely extinguished and the fire brigade was able to terminate its intervention around 2:30 am. Today at 7:44 AM

The fire was created on Tuesday evening around 9 p.m., and the fire brigade immediately went on site with two fire trucks and two ladder cars. The latter were used to attack the fire from above, while it was also extinguished from the ground. Two tankers from the fire brigade were also present, but the fire brigade mainly pumped fire extinguishing water from the Brussels-Charleroi canal, which runs right next to the business park.

Two cranes from the recycling company itself were also used to displace the waste heap in which the fire is raging, layer per layer to extinguish and cool down all the fireplaces. That work took several hours, and the fire brigade was only able to terminate its intervention around 2:30 am.

The fire for a long time provided an impressive plume of smoke that could be seen in the wider area. Local residents were therefore advised to keep windows and doors closed.
