Intend to sell Icelandic protein ice cream in limited quantities

This is stated by Sigurður Kári Harðarson, production manager of a company called ÍS. Concentration, but the first production of protein begins this week.
The ice itself is called a grant and will be sold in limited quantities in the products of young entrepreneurs in Smáralind 4-5. April.
« I get a stomach in my stomach just talking about this to you now, » says Sigurður Kari.
The company is the offspring of Sigurður Kari, Daníels Arnar Örvarsson, Secretary General, Erling Andersen CFO, Tristan Smári Þóroddsson, Promotion Manager and Hafsteinn Huga Hilmarsson, Design and Marketing Manager, but the project is part of the third year’s entrepreneurial phase except at the Icelandic Commercial School.
Immediately decided to work with food
« All third-year students in the business track go to this course, entrepreneurship, and participate in the competition of young entrepreneurs and promote their products and sell it to the products in Smáralind.
« Then the groups are going to introduce their product, talk about it and sell on Bás in the mall. »
The groups « start a business » without registering it on a social security number, but according to Sigurður Kára, everything else is done as if it were a real company.
« We are in positions; Managing Director, Production Manager, Design Manager, etc. and make a business plan, minutes and other traditional, which is related to managing such start -up companies.
We need to have a budget, calculate optimistic and pessimistic forecasts and all that. It is so completely under each group what he does. «
At the outset, those partners decided to do something related to food production. They got some ideas in the beginning, for example, working with oils, but it proved difficult for them to find partners to help to continue that idea.
Went in a completely different direction
During the period, they would develop a drink, but it was missing from partners’ equipment to make it a reality.
« Then we went in a different direction and in the ice. I have a connection to Kjörís through the volleyball at Hamri in Hveragerði and have met the CEO Valdimar very well.
We decided to email both the marketing and product development manager at Kjörís and they were just willing to help us get this started. «
Made us still hungry
The company has been working on the development of the protein ice cream since the beginning of the year and last month the representatives went to taste at Kjörís in Hveragerði.
Sigurður Kári says the ice comes out very well and have exceeded all the expectations of the group.
« We are much more comfortable than we expected. It came out very well and in the tasting there was something that caught fire within us that made us even more hungry. »
Kjörís often supports entrepreneurs at various levels of business. The company has been smaller manufacturers in hand and regularly assisted except at various levels and studies in its work.
The company believes that the conversation that takes place with young people in the innovation sector is very healthy for established companies and that both the company and the students benefit from it.
The entrepreneurial program neat
Elías Þór Þorvarðarson, sales and marketing manager at Kjörís, says there have been considerable students in the Commercial School to have applied to the company to gain marketing insight into its work. He says the entrepreneurial program in the school is neat and almost annually is a group from the school in some kind of collaboration with Kjörís.
« They basically have to create an idea and follow it, but of course they lack considerable knowledge of production, composition and more. We have been providing it.
Our dairyman, who is a product development manager here, has sat over this with these boys and gone through the development of ice, what is feasible and what is not.
So we have let them go to the machines, they got to produce and we have been doing this in recent years. That’s even, unfortunately, there is a great demand that we have had to choose a little bit, ”says Elias.
12 grams of protein in every 100
Sigurður Kari says that the group wanted to try to do something that the people like so it is ready to try something new instead of holding the same soft ice, as he puts it.
He says the dairy scientist and the product development manager at Kjörís have been very comfortable with the outcome, but in the beginning, the composition of protein ice cream would be very complex.
« So it was just no problem and came out really well, » says Sigurður Kari.
Elías Thor says that Kjörís uses the conversation with the young people. « We learn a lot of what they are looking for and from their ideas about what is missing from the market, as with the boys now watching protein solutions. »
In 300 grams of concentration, there are 36 grams of protein or 12 grams per 100 grams. The ice is lactose free, which is why it is a little sweeter than otherwise, according to Sigurður Kári.
In 100 grams of concentration, there are 15 grams of sugar which he says a little but he states that it could have been much more if the ice is compared to normal ice.

Came as a very surprise
Sigurdur says when asked those companies have not discussed the continuation, but if everything goes well and they expect that the production can be done well after the product, then it may well be that there will be closer cooperation with Kjörís on universal production.
« It is a little under Kjörís also come because they have a lot of projects going on, » says Sigurður Kari, but does not deny that it will be the case of young men to have possibly falling down on some machine.
Elias says when asked that he finds the protein strength to be a very exciting product to follow and it is clear that it is for the boys to follow her.

Sigurður Kari says the sequel under the group has come. They need to continue on this path and aim even further. They need to make sure everything is done right.
« It is so bad how a small start -up company from some high school can suddenly fall down on something that could grind gold – who knows? »
