Intend to lower real estate taxes next year

It is planned to reduce real estate taxes in Aarhus next year. It is « clear » can be reduced further in the next election season if the business continues to be sustainable.

This is stated by Bragi Bjarnason, mayor of Aarhus and the Independent Party’s leader in the municipality, in the latest episode of Day.

Is there room for further reductions in real estate taxes or similar?

« That’s what we are looking at now. The top item for us now to look are the real estate taxes. They are high with us, we are aware of it.

In the day, Bragi discusses the great turnaround that has taken place in the operation of the municipality. In recent years, debt accumulation has been high, but the majority in Aarhus recently announced the annual accounts for 2024, with the positive performance being positive by just over three billion.

Bragi mentions that residents should enjoy the results when the business goes well with a lower tariff in service or with lower taxes.

He answers yes when asked if the reductions in real estate taxes should take effect next year.

Further reductions possible in the next election season

Do you think it is possible to go on further reductions in the next election season if the business continues to be sustainable?

« Yes, quite clearly. That is the goal and what we should work on as elected representatives, to have responsible operations and cost -effective so that you can lower the levy on the population, » says Bragi.

Last year, a load was put on the local tax on the proposal of the municipal operations committee. Initially, the municipality was granted permission to have the load for two years, but the burden was abolished after one year due to the fact that the municipality’s operations have been improved. It is therefore not value this year.
